Jennifer McRae is one of Scotland’s best contemporary artists having studied painting at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen from 1987-1992 . This year, 2019, she was 1st prize winner in the Lynn Painter Stainers Award
In 2002 Jennifer moved to London,after being offered a bursary place on the Drawing Year at the Prince's Drawing School. She set up a studio in Southwark, where she continues to practice today.
Over the years she has received awards as either the Winner or Runner-Up from the BP Portrait Award, the Hunting Art Prizes, the Singer Friedlander and Kaupthing Watercolour prizes, the Morrison Scottish Portrait award and most recently the Honourary Society of Painter Stainers Award.In August 2008, she was the Winner of the RWS/Sunday Times Watercolour Competition.
Her work can be found in several public collections including the National Portrait Gallery, the Scottish National Portrait Gallery and Reading Museum amongst others and is also included in private collections both in Europe and the US.
