Signed below in pen by the artist and dated 1952 from the period when he was living at Tilty Mill farm in Essex. This is a very Rare piece.
This unique image is one that preceded the large oil "Figures in a Farmyard " which is a n oil on canvas dating from 1953. Robert Colquhoun often produced oils from smaller monotypes and offset drawings depicting similar images. This large scale oil was exhibited in the Tate Gallery and is now in the Scottish National gallery of Modern Art. See plate 68 and page 67 text "The two Roberts" National galleries of Scotland publication. 2014
Provenance:
This work is one of a number that came from a private collection all having been acquired direct from the artist by Sir Colin Anderson who was a Patron of the artist.They have remained in the same family for over 60 years.
